Heard it in a love song

Although this song has been re-recorded by many of todays tops artists, it is sung at it's finest by Miss Roberta Flack. Her smooth tones and silky voice draw you close as if she is "singing my life in a song" (lyrica borrowed from another huge hit for her.....Killing me softly). I found myself held captive by the first note, the very first time I heard the belowed mentioned song. It's nice to know that love still feels like that!

First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time my love
It would last till the end of time my love

The first time ever I saw your face, your face,
your face, your face

I thought this was an interesting set of lyrics. My favourtie author, Guy Gavriel Kay, wrote a fantasy trilogy call The Fionavar Tapestry in which "The sun rises in your eyes," is a traditional proposal of marriage.

I have the Fugee's version of Killing Me Softly. I have been listening to it on my way to work. I like both songs a lot. I didn't realize it was Roberta Flack who sang them. You'd think I could remember that since we share a name (Robbie is short for Roberta). :-) ---Robbie
