Oh Yeah! This Momma's bragging! lol
My 15 year old Son Jimmy who is an amazingly self taught artist was asked that one of his end of the year art projects be placed by invitation only to our local art museum.........now grant it, I preferred the skittles drawing over his other topic, but it was the other topic that was asked to be put on display....I think the "other" topic is a few skittles short in the brain department, but what can I say my boy idolizes his namesake his Grandfather who he was named after, who just happens to be Republican....I let my kids find their own views and guide them only when asked too....He was a huge Clinton fan until he found out at the ripe old age of 6 that President's lie......tore his whole world apart....it was also the year that he found out that there wasn't a Santa Claus....he ran into his bedroom very upset then came back out 15 minutes later and said, "I suppose you're the Easter Bunny too?" then paused for a moment and said, " Is the tooth fairy real" That was a rough day for my lil man! lol
So without further adieu.....My Son's Art!
Now for someone a few skittles short! lol.......MY BAD! lol lol lol
No, what are now seeing is not an Old English Sheepdog....it is my Son who prefers to see the world through his blonde hair at the moment....Can you say surfer dude?? lol lol lol .....His Self Portrait in charcoal!

OMG...he is 15 & doing that? Watch out! That is incredible! He'll be in the Chicago Art Museum soon!
Awesome! I am dating an artist who is over twice your sons age and he was amazed too! WOW! Congrats on the invite to show his work.
h
Excellent work! You have every right to be proud! Despite the subject matter!

Wow Kim!!!! Jimmy is quite an artist for his young age. I've been an amateur artist for a number of years, went from oils, to acrylics, to drawings, to woodworking art. Unfortunately, I don't have the effort to do much of that any more. This week's schedule has encompassed more mammos, lab tests, primary doctor visit, sugar test for diabetes, and, of course the wait for results. Next is the dermatologist, radiologist and oncologist appts. It goes on an on, but trying to take one day at a time, putting the present and future in the Lord's hands. Thank God for my family as they are always there for me and I am so fortunate. My thoughts and prayers are always with you, each day I check my puter to see if you made an entry. Somehow despite all you have been through this past year, you give me the encouragement I need to plod on through life. It's hard to explain, but I feel so much love for you in my heart and keep telling myself "We Shall Overcome" lol.
Hugs, Carol

He definitely has talent!!! Great stuff, & I hope he continues....my kids had the ability but never pursued it.
All illustrations are AMAZING! Momma you deserve to brag!
Marie
I like 'em. Congratualtions to your son. paula
Whoa, I must say I'm blown away!! I am NOT a Bush fan, but I am majorly impressed with Jimmy's drawing of him. TOOOOOOO cool!! Your kids are so talented between singing and drawing - amazing!!
As for Jimmy's hair, my daughter Kasey (almost 15) wore her hair exactly like that all this last school year. Her bangs hung over her face to her chin, completely blocking her eyes -- and she had to straighten them to get them that way! LOL My mom and my MIL were just horrified all year....as they were when I didn't stop my other daughter from dying her hair purple and turquoise. I have always chosen my battles and for my hub and me, hair is just small stuff. And you know what? Dayna's hair is now back to brunette (HER choice) and Kasey recently cut her bangs back up to a normal length, again, HER choice!
Thanks for sharing those, Kimberleigh!! And feel free to brag any time!!
:) Carol

nice work! Have to comment on the hair.. there was a kid at Kendra's graduation this year that also seems to prefer seeing the world through his hair. I believe in letting them find their own style, voice etc... but man do I hope none of mine elect to go behind the curtain! Be proud, mama.. your son truly has talent. Estela
wow
you really should be proud
he is amazing
poor kid with his trauma over the president and the easter bunny at the same time.
During that time I hated to read the paper, I literally cringed with embarrassment.
Plus the gloating of my republican friends was hard to take, too.
I was personally upset that Bill put me through that LOL
Tom said I took it worse than Hillary!
Love,
Marti
Wow!
That is one talented son you have.
I like all 3 pics even though one of his 'subjects' sux.;0

Talented artist indeed, Kim. Compliments there!
Oh, he's got real talent, Kim! You have the right to be proud, for sure. Make sure you keep these early ones...they may be worth more later! Some people may laugh, but that's what happened with my childhood neighbor, Christopher Still, who now has paintings hanging in the Florida gov't buildings, including our governors' portraits. So keep that work, Mama!
And yeah...sorry...but we DO have a new name for the Prez...forever now known to me as "Skittles". How fitting & hilarious! (Am I politically transparent???!!!)
Good to hear from you!!
hugs, sher (wunzuponatime)
Very very impressive!!! Awesome! Way to go Jimmy!

Your son is definitely going to make his mark in this world. His draughtmanship is brilliant! As are his techniques. The Skittles painting is superb! I once worked in an art gallery and met artists and saw examples of their brilliant draughtmanship and techniques. Already your son has this ability...I hope he takes up studies at Art School. He has already made an impact on many folks here in JLand. This is his forte and he must be encouraged to excell in this dicipline. You must be so very proud of him. He is very talented. Well done to him. Jeanie xx
That self portrait would have to catch everybody's eye. Both of my older boys fought over their right to have long hair throughout high school, my younger one even after being mistaken for a girl by the juvenile delinguent officers. They told me they had my 14 year old daughter in custody. I said ok because I was ued to him being taken as a girl then I thought my word, what if she is not a he, so I told them I did not have a daughter, they said, oh er, we have your son! We teased him but the girls loved it, and he wasn't gay! Gerry http://journals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men/
I hope these are hanging all over your home. What an astonishing son. Wait, I just remembered who is Mom is. Forget it, he comes by it honestly. The self portrait is beguiling. ~ Mary
I so enjoy the self portrait art of middle school and high school. They are such insights in to who are children believe they are.
Great art work ... yeah, even the skittles-short guy.
Excellent artist. I enjoy all the topics. LOL!
