Well, I'm having the dreaded porta cath put in at 9:30 this morning. I know it's a necessity and I will be just fine. I have to keep reminding myself every time I don't want to do something, that by doing "something" I am getting myself closer and closer to a full recovery and then I can get back to my precancerous life.
I would like my readers to make a stop over to Stephanie at "In Perpetual Motion" She is just embarking on what I have already gone through and can really use a "J-LAND HUG"
So go on everyone show Stephanie some love....... click on her name below.....and thank you! J-LAND IS THE BEST THING AOL HAS TO OFFER!

Kim,

On my way over and good luck to you today! Linda
you are in my prayers this morning. and you are so right about doing "something" when you don't want to do anything.

I always said people should be born with a porta a cath. They are so great since you don't have to get stuck for blood all the time and hunting for a good IV spot. It would be the first thing I would demand. Good luck and hope you come to accept it. Most of my patients praise the day they invented them.

Hope everything goes well for you! Jae
Hope it all went well. I'm not a needle person. I dread my 6 monthly blood tests, it usually takes 20 minutes before they can find a vein and I just hate it when they think they've got it and the vein jumps sideways. ugh!

Kim, It was this time last year that my MIL acquired her port. It's a pain but necessary. She never complained about it. Best wishes with your procedure. I'll go over and visit Stephanie.
Regards, David
Good luck.

Hi I just had to comment. I found your blog today doing a breast cancer blog search. Iv'e enjoyed reading your posts. You have a great outlook. I was diagnosed in August with IDC. I also have a port and will start my chemo Monday. It takes a little getting used to, but from what I hear we will appreciate it in the long run. I really hope your feeling better.
I just started my blog this past week. Come by and check it out if you'd like! http://journals.aol.com/gosso23/my-breast-cancer-story/
