Heard it in a love song

I'm not sure if the younger generations know about the talents of Gordon Lightfoot...He is an amazing song writer and story teller for more than 40 years. His songs are timeless..... I remember rollerskating to them in the 70's a the local roller rink, falling in love listening to them during the 80's, traveling back in time listening to them in the 90's and appreciating his talents even more now in this decade ......He writes about life and love and about being in love with life

Gordon Lightfoot
"Beautiful"

At times I just don't know
How you could be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me

And I know that I won't ever change
We've been friends through rain or shine
For such a long, long time

Laughing eyes and smiling face
It seems so lucky just to have the right
Of telling you with all my might
You're beautiful tonight

And I know that you won't ever stray
Cause you've been that way from day to day
For such a long, long time

And when you hold me tight
How could life be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me

And I know that I won't ever change
We've been friends through rain or shine
For such a long, long time

Well, I must say it means so much to me
To be the one who's telling you
I'm telling you, that you're beautiful.

This one by far is my favorite of his........ its a timeless love song.

I know its not a love song, but I always loved "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald."  It is so haunting and a beautiful song to me.

The CD Gord'sGold has ALL the best, including early stuff he re-recorded and actually improved on, with the band he had during the Sundown to Edmund Fitzgerald period.  A great artist, Gordon Lightfoot is still active.  Kudo's to you for introducing him to new listeners.  I think our generation (I'm including you in mine, so to speak, even if  you are somewhat younger) was the most fortunate as regards music.  Gordon, Joni, Jackson, Warren, Bruce (how could I NOT like the guy?), Cat, Linda, Bob D, Bob S, Brian, and, of course, John & Paul were close personal friends of ours; those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end....perhaps whey won't, after all.  My 20 yr old son listens to so many of my CDs, sometimes I have to go rescue them so I can listen to them, myself!

I've always loved Gordon Lightfoot... I think my favorite though is the one about the Edmond Fitzgerald (not sure I spelled that right)... I've always loved that song.
