Time to happy dance again! lol

I knew it! I knew the chemo drug (Navelbine),the chemo drug that my body can't tolerate..... is driving down the tumor marker test numbers (another huge decrease). Dr. Serious doesn't seem to think its the Navelbine that has made me so sick. , no matter how much I tried convincing him it is. First dose (full dose) became familiar with my toilet, second dose (Half dose,didn't SEE the toilet) third dose (full) made plenty of visits to the toilet....so today I go in plead my case but because of the tumor markers going down significantly in the last month and the tumors I once felt in my left leg are gone and Jim can't find any signs of the ones down the sides of my spine, I was given another full dose!

He thinks it's the lack of steroids in my body that are making me sick, so once again I am being put back on steroids...a milder one this time Prednisone, at a low dose so I don't get the weird side effects I had on the other steroid(Dexamethasone) in previous treatments. They should also help with my appetite and my nausea ..... lost 8 pounds being ill since last dose. I am now wearing a size 7 in the junior section thanks to my "Extreme Cancer Make Over." All I have to say is I better get to enjoy this body of my youth for quite awhile after I'm put in remission! lol lol lol

Well, I just wanted to let you know how my visit with Dr. Serious went and if you don't see me around much in the next week or so, I'll be face to face with the tidy bowl man! lol 2 more rounds of this chemo, then another tumor marker test, if they are still declining then no other testing (scans and such) until 2 more rounds....Lets hope it continues to work for me and not stop working in another month like the others have.

GO ME!!!!

Oh, I'm glad that the markers are down. It's just so horrible that the treatment affects the rest of the body so badly. Were you able to mention the clinical trials here in Tampa at all to Dr. Serious? I would think that anyone in the C field would love to know about this very new treatment. ((Kim)) hang in there baby...we are all still praying...love, Sandi

In Lance Armstrong's book - he visualized every time his peed, he pissed out the cancer.  He pictured it in his mind and it happened.  Visualization works.  Visualize and think about what you do want, not what you don't want.

Hang in there sweetie...you must be super woman...tires me out just reading how you feel....I talk about you at work with my female co-workers at lunch..my daughters even ask sometimes " How is Kim doing?"I keep my Mom update on your progress. She is a breast cancer survivor 10 years now. SHe goes for her mamogram tomorrow and she is nervous worried that this will be the time when they give her bad news again. She says you can only imagine what it feels like to hear those words " YOU HAVE BREAST CANCER"It seems to run in her family...the females on her fathers side...her cousins, and mine...most have not been as lucky as my Mom. I have thought of getting that test...I don't even know what it's called....but could I really have my breasts removed if I have the gene or marker for breast cancer? Do I really want to know????? I just know dear Kim...you inspire me in so many ways....a stranger's life you have touched and changed in some wonderful way. KICK ASS KIM...your in my prayers! Roxzee

That cancer didn't know what it was taking on when it chose you.  Attagirl, Kim, send it packing!

Anonymous said...

  Go you! Of course the Chemo drug is making you sick. That's what chemo does. It is a poison, after all. Your body recognises it as "something bad" and wants to get rid of it. The aim here is to kill the cancer. Of course, the cancer is a persistent little bastard, and takes some doing to kill. The doctor's role is to poison you to within an inch of death and them bring you back, and hope the cancer doesn't make it back with you.
  I know being huddled over the toilet is not a very triumphant feeling pose, but keep telling yourself, as you heave your guts into the bowl, "I'm kicking cancer's ass!"

Doesn't it just figure that the drug that seems to make you the most ill is the ONE that is actually working??? Go figure! I'm glad that it is showing such promise. Hang in there girl... Want to hear something funny? The two drugs (Pred and Dex) that you mentioned?? Common drugs that we use on horses for things. In fact, I just had a horse on a course of Dex for Heaves (it's kind of like Horsey Asthma)<LOL>  {{{{{Hugs}}}}

Good luck with the Prednisone. I took it once and it didn't work out well for me, but I've heard a lot of people have great results with it. You seem like quite a remarkable person, and I hope everything goes well for you!

This is great news about the markers going down not the dance with the toilet bowl. Here's to you being able to be rid of all of this "stuff" and getting to enjoy that knock out body in your 7 juniors no less. Hopefully this time will go great and we will get to hear from you more than you think.
