Heard it in a love song.....Ours!

Many couples have an 'Our Song' Usually it's the song they have their first dance to as Husband and Wife. It is either a song that expresses to others how they feel about one another or a song that mimics a time in their lives.

I have many favorite love songs....most women do, what I didn't know until maybe 3 years ago is Jim had a song that held a lot of significance to him. As many of my long time readers already know Jim and I dated over 4 years before we were married. That last year of dating was an extremely difficult time in our lives and went spent a lot of time apart....so much time that I started dating other men and when Jim and I discovered we both wanted different things, we thought we split up for good..... I was heartbroken but moved on, as did he.

One morning Jim's clock radio went off at it's usual time, but instead of hitting the snooze button, (like the snooze-aholic always does! lol) a new Garth Brook song started playing, being a big fan of his...he listened to the song and really felt the words.....the song is called 'If tomorrow never comes." It was while listening to that song that he came to the conclusion that he really didn't want to spend the rest of his life without me in it. That very same night he showed up at my door after waiting for me to come home from a date and demanded that I marry him....not a sweet, well thought out proposal.......I was told that he wasn't asking me to marry him he was telling me I was going to marry him! lol and I had to get rid of the new boyfriend! lol

Now I want you to go and read this older entry about a magical night we had out under the stars at the lake 2 summers ago..it's about a magical moment, a slow dance and a serenade...........click the link and then come back for the rest of this entry (please)

The Dance

It was that song that he sang to me that night.

"If Tomorrow Never Comes"

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart

(Chorus)

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

Cause I've lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance to tell her how I feel

(chorus)
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you're thinking of
If tomorrow never comes.

So Jim, if at sometime my tomorrow never comes...... the love you've gave me in the past will be enough to last.....till we find one another once again......I love you!

Today is round 3 of chemo, then only 1 more round of the bad chemo to do...........yipeeeeeee! Then on to 4 rounds of Taxol.

How great is it to have that kind of love?  Not many people get to experience that so you are blessed.  Just a beautiful entry.  Hang in there tough stuff, you can do it.  Brandy

You have been so blessed and so fortunate to have experienced such a profound love in your life.  I think that as we grow older (aww, do we actually DO that?  get older?? lol)the good times AND the heartaches and the hard times help that love to grow stronger and stronger as the years go on.    You have had your share of it all and I am sure that is what has made your relationship the special one that it is!

((hugs))

Kim,  I warms my heart to find another couple that has found that kind of love.  Janice and I often eat by candle light and dance too.  Good luck on session #3 Kim, my prayers are with you.  David

What a beautiful entry Kim!  That is our song because within the 1st year of being married in 83, my honey was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and failure due to complications from him being hit as a pedestrian.  The drs. didn't think he would live and when he did, they said he wouldn't make to 40. Well, he's 44 now and he's still here and his health problems are stable for now.  I believe he will live a normal life span.  Keeping ya in my prayers as you go thru treatment.
Hugs,
Dana

Okay, so I don't have a romantic chord in me. Usually. You got me here. A very sweet entry.
So come and join me for Halloween. Each day a new story. Today's is about Lizzie Borden.

How lovely that the romance is still in your marriage. Mike is very good but not very romantic. As for dancing of any type, god help me if we try I usually end up injured!

You know it will be a bumpy ride for a few days but you also know now that you can get through it and will soon feel reasonably normal again. You've passed the halfway mark with the bad stuff and we're all rooting for you. I hope this time it doesn't knock you about so much.

I'm all goosebumps.  I've waited 45 years for a love such as this and it's finally arrived.  I've never been happier in my entire life.

Goodness gracious Kim,
ya done got me crying over here...lol
What a beautiful marriage you have...
and a wonderful husband...you are both very
blessed to have one another.  The very first song we
danced to...was Garth Brooks..."The Dance"...I will never
forget it....as far as...."Our Song"....that would be
Lonestars "Amazed"....from the first moment we heard it...we
just knew it was our song....and another one very dear to our heart is Celine Dions...."The Power of Love"...I will never forget...I was babysitting(laid off from my job at the time)...and Jeff called me from work...this is when we were dating...and he said hurry..turn it to 104.1 on the radio....this song is for you babe.....awwwww!   Precious memories...we must cherish forever Kim....thanks for sharing your story with me....and bringing me back to some of my most cherished memories.....

Hugss..~Terri~

Personally, I think Garth Brooks is an asshole, but if he made some sort of difference in your life somehow, and gave you some words that gave you some peace of mind--more power to him!!  I guess that makes him less of an asshole in my book!!

Hang in there baby!! I'm praying for ya!!

I heard that song for the first time the day after my beloved husband died. I knew he loved me, more than anything and that song has been special to me ever since.
