10-03-06

I slept most of the day away....hard to believe that I am already 7 weeks post up and have one chemo under my belt. I am battling some kind of throat infection already....no antibiotics until my fever reaches at least 100.5........doesn't matter that my core body temperature is normally 97.2 as with my kids. So in order to be put on antibiotics I have to have a 3.3 spike in my temperature when other people with a normal body reading of 98.6 only have to have a 2. spike in fever. I did go in yesterday to the lab to have my blood checked as far as readings go for white blood cell count and red blood cell count......Oh the fun I am having! lol

Sunday was a good day.........I had to get out of the house, when I want a normal day I go to the lake....sunshine, friends, family and a cook out makes a normal day for me....it felt good to be out. I did have to go in and lay down for a bit, but my nose got the best of me once the grill was started up and I can't pass up a good potato salad. I have to have a taste for something or it fights me.....taking me back to my pregnacny days....I'm hoping I don't crave what I craved back then....bologna folded like a taco shell filled with whip cream.....I know gross! lol lol lol With my baby girl, Rachel....the only thing that stayed down for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th month was a large order of McDonalds french fries dipped in their hot mustard sauce....I think it's the salt that soothes my stomach.

I would love to hear some "Out There" cravings from a few of you! We can either get a good giggle out of it or ruin our appetites for the rest of the day! lol lol lol.......Hey! What are friends for anyway??? lol

I saw Dr. Hollywood last week, he is a lil concerned about a few spsots that are slow to heal on the "NEW GIRL" He asked me if I was upset about it's progess......I reminded him, that all I asked of all of my Doctors was that they help me to battle this Breast Cancer so I can finish raising my last two babies....and anything that comes after that is "NOTHING BUT GRAVY!"

Being Tumor Free, soon to be cancer free........ trumps all the lumps and bumps that will be there to remind me of my battle fought hard and victorious!

I can crave some crazy stuff. Like macaroni salad and lays plain chips or peanut butter and apples or watermelon. Pinto beans with bologna and sweet midgets. LOL

When I was having chemo, a plain fried egg ( no black pepper or you'd die LOL ) and popcicles were my best friends.

hang in there Kim!

Gag, bologna and whipped cream!  I was boring and craved salads and anything fresh.  I ate a whole watermelon by myself.

Must be a virus going 'round the journals - hope your cold isn't like mine!!  I hope you feel better real soon.  You need it!

Love your 'tude.  You got your priorities straight.  It's hard to remember sometimes, but you are doing good.

I didn't have any weird cravings, but whatever i could come up with could never top bologna and whipped cream.  OMG!!

EWWWW.....BOLOGNA and WHIPPED CREAM???   I don't think anyone could top that!!

I didn't have too many craving while I was pregnant.  With Kaitlin, (my oldest) I once had a late night craving for Eggplant Rolitini!!!!!  Mmmmm, it was good too!  (lol)  I had borderline gestational diabetes with Kelly, and I actually had a mild case of it with Brian, so I had to stay away from the sugar, but right after Brian was born I HAD to have Peanut M&M's....immediately!!!

I have the same lower fever that you do.  Mine is about 97.3.  If I get to 99 I am SICK.  If it goes over 100, I am REALLY sick.  I usually never run a fever though, so I don't see those numbers too often.  About 10 years ago I had pneumonia and pluerisy and my temperature was 103!!!!!  THAT was brutal!!

Hope you are still getting lots of rest.  I am glad to see that you are at least craving SOME things, so I know you are eating!!! (lol)

((hugs))

You're amazingly strong!  Like ZENA WARRIOR PRINCESS!  Kicking cancer's butt big time.  I had four pregnancies and didn't crave anything weirder than dirt.  Rich black soil.  Not the red kind.  And I wanted starch straight out of the box.  I also loved certain smells, like being at the gas station, or turpentine when someone was painting.  With my third child, it was unpasteurized mile I was able to get up the road, with about four inches of cream on top, still warm, and an entire box of cereal.  It was FRUIT LOOPS back then.  Eat what you want right now.  You deserve it.  Getting outside always helps me.  My son's MIL had a dbl mastectomy yesterday.  Please think and pray for her if you have time.
Love you and glad to call you my friend,

Glad to hear you got out for awhile. That always make ya feel better.  Especially out at the lake.  What better place to relax?
Cravings...chocolate!  OMG chocolate RULED!  And I hated popcorn when I was pregnant.  For years after my son was born I couldn't even stand the smell of popcorn without getting nauseated.  It's just been within the last year I can eat it again and he's 14!  LOL!  Try going to a movie theatre and avoiding the scent of popcorn....it doesn't happen!
Take it one day at a time Kim.  You'll be fine!

Bologna and whipped creme?? EWWWWWWW! With my son I craved Chocolate covered peanuts and watermelon with salt on it.... but seperately. My mom would come with a POUND of chocolate covered peanuts when she got off work and my ex would show with a small watermelon or half of a large one. Luckily i was preggo in the summer, huh... Note the salted theme on both of my cravings...

The temp thing... I also run about a degree below. Someone will take my temp and say it's ONLY 99... well, for me that Is a fever! So, I feel for you.

Hang in there... Be tough... {{{{Hugs}}}

I had a bizzare craving when I was pregnant with Catherine. I hated mustard but then one day, when I was 6 months gone, I walked over to the shop, bought a pack of half a dozen bread rolls, a packet of half a dozen sausages and some onions AND a jar  of mustard!

I came home and cooked three sausages and ate them in the rolls, with lots of fried onions AND liberal amounts of mustard. Having finished those I then cooked the other three and finished them off in minutes!!

I've loved mustard ever since.

Strawberry jam mixed with mayo on 9 grain bread, heaven.    Sometimes it is important to let the fever sit awhile so your white cells build which is your first defense agains't infection.   I never treat my fever for 24 hours because of that.  I doctor I highly respected believed that and I alway get over things faster by doing that.  So true or not,  I believe.

Drink a lot of green tea...great for the skin and immune system.  Try to keep away from anyone with colds...wash your hands alot and keep your hands away from your face.  Now the Mom in me will shut up. LOL.  Glad you were able to go out a bit..hope this time passes quickly and you are cured swiftly....Sandi

I second what Sandi said.  I forgot you're more susceptible to colds and other bugs now.  Wouldn't hurt to stock up on some hand sanitizer and make the family use it.  If someone is sick, you might want to ask them to cover their mouths and noses.  You might want to get some bandanas or see if the local medical supply store has masks.  Sounds extreme but you have enough on you right now without getting sick.

Weird food cravings....mom craved Kosher dills when she was preggers with me.  I now love Kosher dills (preferring Claussen brand).  She craved raw cabbage when pregnant with my sister and coffee GROUNDS when she was pregnant with my brother (no different than eating something like a chocolate covered coffee bean only you don't have the chocolate).

As for me?  I like an occasional peanut butter sandwich (hold the jelly) with sweet pickle slickes.  I also prefer to dip my french fries in either tartar sauce or ranch dressing.

My brother, when he was young, mixed bologna and cool whip a few times!!!  So, you're not that weird in that respect!!!  I'll stick with good, old-fashioned Mayo, thank you!

BTW, haven't they told you that chemo can cause mouth/throat sores?  Do they give you popscicles while you're being "juiced"?

Hugs and love,
Sheila
